Tales from Ex-husband-land XXVIII
(Alex and Camille)

Alex had a ribcage full of gargoyles
laughing in bone prisons
stained by the rain
heartbroken from the deep
shoveled piles of sand
that stood like sphinxes
Camille left him after he had gone to work.
He came home to the thin air .

Empty ,empty bottom falling
ears ringing saying “eeeeeeeeaace..”..
like a mosquito from the underworld.
His eyes were unable to hold what little was left
He wanted to hire an augur
see some future full of contralto voices
in the entrails of a victim.

All that’s needed is some small bit
of buoyancy ,two thoughts to rub together
to sweep sweet blood from the snow
and remove the bag of broken eggs
from his brain.
the more the one wing flaps
the faster the ideas spin
Downward ,wobbling
ellipses inside each other.

Camille said ,on the night before she left
“This skin is a prison, even the attraction reeks of repulsion
I am bitten ,chewed and spewed out
Till I have become a ‘sinker’.
Alex’s unsaid reply was, “you are wrong , the body is an anti gravitation device , lighter than helium. The meat carries the soul that flies where it wants breathing on and being breathed. You can travel anywhere from Saturn’s rings to deepest silence in microscopic splendor.”

The dark voices wear thin from use
and finally it is time to rise
sending the seismic shivers
back against the closing death.
Shadows become impossibly blue
next to a yellow white sidewalk
And the juices sing
about how very good it all is.
